Minibeast Hunt!

Minibeast Hunt!

We are currently learning about 'living things' in our Biodiversity and Interdependence Science topic. Luckily, the sun was shining today, which meant we could go out on our search for minibeasts!

We are able to confidently classify animals into vertebrate and invertebrate groups. Vertebrate animals are those with a backbone, which can be classified into mammals, birds, fish, reptiles and amphibians. Invertebrate animals are those without a backbone and can be categorised into 3 groups: molluscs, arachnids and insects.

Today we teamed up with Room 12 to search for invertebrates! Using bug viewers, the children captured a wide range of minibeasts so we could have a closer look. The children were very brave!

Unfortunately we were not able to find all of the invertebrates on our list due to the hot, dry weather - however we still managed to find lots! Have a look at us in action and see if you can recognise some of the minibeasts we found!

Make sure you check back next week. The children have an exciting challenge in store for them!
