Term 2
Primary
4/5 have had a fun filled and busy term 2.
Our
main class topic has been 'Refugee Rights' and has linked in well
with the current events happening in the world. The children have
enjoyed exploring current issues, engaging with BBC Newsround in
class and other news forms at home. All of the boys and girls in
Room 11 are aware of their rights and can discuss these maturely. We
presented a wonderful assembly all about UNICEF and children's
rights. It included lots of information, videos, songs, poetry and a
play about Paddington Bear, a well known Refugee. We wrote letters
to local business asking for their support in donations to our chosen
charity, Save the Children. We also took time to write letters to
the U.K. Prime Minister, David Cameron to ask him and ensure that all
children's rights are being met as we have been extremely interested
in learning about the 42 Articles.
We
thoroughly enjoyed going along to watch Room 9 and 10's 'Trashion
Show'. It was a fun reminder to Reduce, Reuse and Recyle. We loved
all of the children's posing on the catwalk!
In
science we undertook an experiment to look at what happens when
materials are changed. We had such fun out in the breakout space
mixing bicarbonate of soda and vinegar together, despite the horrible
smell it made! This just showed us that by mixing these two
substances together we achieved a reaction, as well as sound, state
and smell. Look at our pictures below.
